Pine is a softwood that comes from conifer trees. Components of softwood are that they are typically used in construction and furniture building. That means the same wood used to make your backgrounds can be found in household furnishing and structures of homes (varying in size of course).

One of the main reasons why we use pine is because it is a cost efficient, durable, and high-quality style of wood. Is that the most ideal trifecta in the wood game? Absolutely.

Pine is solid form of wood. If you’re just a tad too tough, it’ll still be there. It may take a scratch or dent (depending on what you do to it), but pine will allow your background to still be your background.
